Natural Insect Repellents
For ants: Mix half powdered sugar and half Borax. I put some of this mixture in an old bottle cap. I put one near each entrance and near wherever I see ants. They will be attracted to the sugar and can’t separate the Borax which will kill them.
For spiders: Mix 1 part peppermint essential oil with 10 parts water. Mix together in a spray bottle and shake well. Spray all over in doorways, windows, corners, and anywhere you see the eight legged pest!
For Stink Bugs: Mix together warm water and dish soap. Make it all good and soapy. Spray on the bug or knock them into the soapy water.
All Purpose Spray: I use this recipe: 2 garlic cloves, 2 cups mint leaves, 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper, 1 tablespoon dish soap (I suggest Dawn), and 10 cups water. Put everything solid (garlic, mint, pepper) in a food processor or blender and let it go until it is a paste. In a bowl, put the water, soap, and food paste. Whisk it all together. Pour the mix into a squirt bottle and spray all over your plants. This lasts no more than a week, so you’ll need to make more and adjust the recipe for smaller or larger batches.
NOTE: Diatomaceous Earth is also a great tool in the insect battle! Sprinkle DE in doorways, windows, near trash cans, and anywhere you see insects!
